SYNOPSIS: AN ARCTIC FRONT ALONG THE ATLANTIC SEABOARD MONDAY MORNING IS PREDICTED TO CONTINUE MOVING EAST OUT OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC. THE ASSOCIATED LOW PRESSURE CENTER IS EXPECTED TO TRACK FROM NEAR LAKE ONTARIO NORTHWARD TOWARDS JAMES BAY, CANADA, AND INTENSIFY. IN THE WAKE OF THIS FRONTAL SYSTEM, BITTER COLD HIGH PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO PREVAIL FROM THE ROCKIES TO THE EAST COAST. A PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO APPROACH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST. A SERIES OF MIGRATORY LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS ARE ANTICIPATED TO MAINTAIN INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN COASTAL ALASKA. LOW PRESSURE AND COLD AIR ALOFT NEAR THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS ARE PREDICTED TO BRING UNSETTLED CONDITIONS WITH INCREASED PRECIPITATION TO THAT REGION.

  • HIGH WINDS FOR THE GREAT LAKES REGION, THE NORTHEAST, AND ALONG THE ATLANTIC COAST FROM MAINE TO NORTH CAROLINA, MON-TUE, JAN 6-7.
  • HIGH WINDS FOR THE SOUTHERN ATLANTIC AND GULF COAST STATES, MON, JAN 6.
  • HEAVY SNOW FOR NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND, MON, JAN 6.
  • HEAVY LAKE-ENHANCED SNOW FOR THE GREAT LAKES REGION, MON-TUE, JAN 6-7.
  • SEVERE DROUGHT FOR PARTS OF THE MIDWEST, GREAT PLAINS, RIO GRANDE VALLEY, ROCKIES, SOUTHWEST, GREAT BASIN, CALIFORNIA, AND HAWAII.
